The slogan for the Games of 2011 sounded every day at 11 plants beat the heart of Special Olympics and the completion of the test events with very great success, it marks the beginning essentially the countdown for the World Games next year.

In every field, on every sports facility in every race, people with intellectual disabilities these four days, sent a message of strength, faith, optimism and hope for creating a society inclusive and also renew all the appointments for Athens from June 25 to July 4, 2011.

The mail was the President and the World Games “Athens 2011” Gianna Despotopoulou. “It was the crowning moment of the year for the thousands of athletes, Special Olympics, their families and their coaches, but at the same time and test our preparedness and our ability, in terms of sports facilities and our operational mode. I think this year’s Games have experienced great success, it will be another step towards fulfilling the noble purpose we all serve. The strength, determination and pride discerned these days in the faces of athletes participating in competitions, are enough to inspire us all. ”

The test events (test events) for the 2011 World Games 2011 took place in 11 sports and facilities, particularly in athletics (Olympic Stadium) in Badminton (Ilion), the Dynamic Weightlifting (Agios Kosmas), the Table Tennis (SEF 2 ) in Botsis (SEF 1), Cycling (Greek), in Rhythmic Gymnastics (Greek) in volleyball (Nea Makri), the Football 5×5 (Hockey Greek) in Handball (Athl.Kentro DAIS) and the Olympic Swimming Aquatics Centre.

In Greece, Sraiver Tim Kennedy

At the last practice race day arrived in Greece, the President of the International Committee Special Olympics (SOI), Tim Sraiver-Kennedy. The chairman of the SOI with the President of the Organizing Committee of the World Games in 2011, Gianna Despotopoulou went to the athletes village in Marathon and Mr. Tim Sraiver-Kennedy congratulated them for strength and courage they have shown and asked to continue train with the same determination in view of the struggles of 2011.

It will also go in the day in Alexandroupolis and Kavala and then to Rhodes, under the “City Amphitryon, on hosting 10,000 athletes from around the world, four days before starting the World Summer Games in Athens in June 2011.

On Thursday, the head of the Special Olympics will go to Kavala, where he has scheduled a series of events in the forum of the Apostle Paul and at City Hall during which Mr Tim Sraiver Kennedy and Mrs. Gianna Despotopoulou will be designated Honorary Citizens and being awarded the key of the city. A few hours later will depart for Rhodes in the program “POLIS-AMPHITRYON.
