Mission of Massachusetts for the World Games Special Olympics 2011 in Athens Greece with the team in USA

SOMA Delegation

Special Olympics Massachusetts will be sending six athletes and two staff members to 2011 World Games in Athens Greece. SOMA athletes will be competing in Equestrian (1 male and 1 female), Bocce (1 male and 1 female), Athletics (1 male and 1 female).

From June 25 to July 4, 2011 in Athens, 7,500 Special Olympics Athletes from 185 nations will compete in 22 Olympic-type sports. For more information visit the World Games website at http://www.athens2011.org/en/index.asp

Jen Maitland, Special Olympics Massachusetts Director of Sports Management, will be serving as the gymnastics assistant sport manager for team USA.

Matt Ruxton Special Olympics Massachusetts Assistant Vice President of Sports Management, will be serving as the bowling assistant sport manager for team USA
