Athens Olympic Park - The Velodrome

The Olympic Velodrome is a stadium at the Athens Olympic Sports Complex that was the site of the track cycling events at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. The stadium, which seats 5,250 – though only 3,300 seats were made publicly available for the games – has distinctive twin roofs covering the stands on each side, designed by Santiago Calatrava. The track, made of Afzelia wood, is 250 m. long and 7.5 m. wide. Construction of the stadium was completed on May 30, 2004, and it was officially opened on July 30,2004.

  • The World Junior Championship – nenanidon in 1992 and 1999
  • The 1991 Mediterranean Games,
  • The Balkan struggles between men and adolescents in 2000
  • Also conducted the National Leagues and Cup runs each year.

Presentation

The Olympic Velodrome is a permanent sports facility and which lays in the southwest part of the Athens basin. Distance from the center of Athens 18.1 km and 22.7 km from the port of Piraeus.
The main entrance is on the Spiros Louis Avenue and has 250 parking places fenced.

The venue of the Olympic velodrome has been covering 4,000 m2, building 7000 m2 surface / plant 53,400 m2 total area percentage of the Olympic Stadium 6.20%. The perimeter is 250 meters, the slope of which is the 42nd and 12th viraz in straight

It has a capacity of 5000 seats, of which 3100 spectators, 1500 journalists and 400 officials.

It closed circuit television, two generators, fire protection system.

During the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011, June 25 – July 4 2011.The   Olympic Velodrome is a stadium  is part of the O.A.K.A. during the World Summer Games Special Olympics Athens 2011 will be held the following events:
