The Greek gold Olympic Games winner in sailing supported the international Special Olympics summer games “Athens 2011” from the very begging.

“I was touched when we entered the Kalimarmaro Stadium with the flag during the opening ceremony. Especially when I heard the Special Olympics athletes – messengers mentioning their achievements. Things which we consider common and we do not appreciate. The Special Olympics athlete’s oath was amazing and I believe that we should have the same in our games, too. Congratulations to the volunteers and the Organizing Committee. Mrs. Despotopoulou successfully achieved this difficult project”.
