Εθελόντρια ετών… 79

Η κ.Πατρίτσια ΚΟΥΓΙΟΥΦΑ είναι 79 ετών, καθώς γεννήθηκε το 1932. Χαμογελαστή, ευδιάθετη, βρίσκεται κάθε πρωί από τις 07.00 στο Ολυμπιακό Κέντρο Ιππασίας στο Μαρκόπουλο. Κάνει το τσεκ-ιν και αμέσως, πηγαίνει να πιάσει τη θέση της στον αγωνιστικό χώρο. Είναι εθελόντρια των Παγκόσμιων Αγώνων Special Olympics, δίνοντας το καλύτερο παράδειγμα στα πέντε εγγόνια που έχει αποκτήσει από τα δυο παιδιά της αλλά και σε όλους μας. Φεύγει τελευταία… Εποπτεύει τα άλογα και μάλιστα ζήτησε η ίδια να είναι σε ανοιχτό χώρο. Γεννήθηκε στη Βόρεια Αγγλία όπου μικρή έκανε ιππασία. Εκεί σπούδασε, αλλά και γνώρισε τον μετέπειτα σύζυγο της και το 1956 ταξίδεψαν στην Ελλάδα όπου έμειναν για πάντα. Από την ηλικία των επτά ετών μέχρι και τα 23 της ασχολήθηκε ως αθλήτρια με την Ιππασία που την αγάπησε πολύ. Από τότε όμως και όποτε της δίνεται η ευκαιρία βοηθάει εθελοντικά σε πολλούς χώρους. Υπήρξε πολλά χρόνια εθελόντρια στη Θεραπευτική Κοινότητα στο Γουδή. Στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του 2004, ήταν εθελόντρια στον τομέα των VIP και φρόντιζε συγκεκριμένα έναν Ινσό επίσημο: «Ευτυχώς που δεν ζήτησε κάποια στιγμή να πάει στα μπουζούκια» λέει χαμογελώντας. Τότε γνώρισε και τις Ινδικές σπεσιαλιτέ. Τις επόμενες μέρες τα εγγόνια της θα βρεθούν στο Μαρκόπουλο να δουν τη γιαγιά τους. Ελπίζει ότι θα θαυμάσουν το έργο που γίνεται έτσι ώστε-όπως λέει- όλοι να καταλάβουν ποια είναι τα πραγματικά προβλήματα της ζωής είναι. Δεν πιστεύει ότι χρήζει ειδικής μεταχείρισης από όλους τους άλλους: « Η προσφορά δεν έχει ηλικία, είμαστε όλοι ίδιοι» τονίζει και με περηφάνια δείχνει τα pins που έχει ανταλλάξει με άλλους εθελοντές από όλο τον κόσμο και το 2004 αλλά και τώρ

”It has been a great pleasure for me to volunteer at the Special Olympics, since it is such an importantevent”, Mathias said, a German volunteer. His presence alone with other volunteers from abroad are the proof of the international character of the Games. Everybody “Is in” to achieve a common goal: To break the boundaries against discrimination.

Freestyle catwalk at the Golden Hall – First performance of their official uniforms for the Games

Tomorrow, Friday, May 13, 2011 at 19.00 will be made the official presentation of the uniforms of the Special Olympics World Games ATHENS 2011, the mall Golden Hall.

In the original freestyle catwalk will participate as “models” known actors, presenters, sportsmen, journalists accompanied by athletes Special Olympics. Sponsor’s Freestyle catwalk is Kiss 92,9 FM, which will broadcast live from the Golden Hall from 17.00 – 20.00. Presenter of the event is Christina not use.

7 + 1 different uniforms

For the first time in Greece uniforms global organization is no color variation, so as to be visible the class they represent.

Total number of uniforms: 30,000 and 600 (for the Greek team)

Details:

1. The vegetables are the main uniform of the World Games for the paid staff and 8,000 volunteers.
2. The orange outfit for paid staff and 3,000 volunteers in the field of sports.
3. The yellow livery for the paid staff and 2,000 volunteers in the transport sector.
4. The green outfit for paid staff and 2,500 volunteers in service operations viewers.
5. The blue outfit for paid staff and 1,000 volunteers – escorts gallery.
6. The purple outfit for the judges and referees (technical officials).
7. H red outfit for the paid staff and 3,500 volunteers who provide medical services.
8. Finally, the blue suit for the 486 Special Olympics athletes of the Greek mission, with the colors of the Greek flag.

The fleet consists of 1 pair (made shorts) 2 polo T-shirts, 1 hat, 1 windproof jacket and 1 bag waist.
The mission of Special Olympics Greek delegation includes 1 pair of trousers, T-1 polo shirt, 1 T shirt, 1 windproof jacket, 1 hat and 1 bag waist.

In 2011 and from June 25 to July 4 in Athens with pride  receives a top sporting event, the world’s races SPECIAL OLYMPICS 2011.

The Special Olympics is a nonprofit organization founded officially in 1968, giving form to the vision of the founder,

Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of President of the USA John F. Kennedy. A vision born in June 1962 in a summer camp home of Eunice, which invited children and adults mental disabilities in order to detect the same capabilities to various sports activities.

Barely two years after the summer of 1968, taking place in the Illinois U.S. the first International Special Olympics Summer Games, with participants 1000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from 26 states in the U.S. and  Canada, while in December 1971 the Special Olympics received from the U.S. Olympic Committee for the privilege to be among the two bodies in America have the right to bear the title “Olympics”. Since then, Special Olympics has developed into a World .

Movement gives the opportunity for 3.1 million people with mental  difficulties than 185 countries around the world, mostly through sports, to  enhance self-esteem, to discover their individual skills and how these are to be active and useful members of their communities.

The Special Olympics Hellas was founded in 1987 as a nonprofit, athletic and educational association for the integration of Greeks mental disabilities at the World Movement Special Olympics, providing them the opportunity to showcase their particular skills and to forward in the global community through participation in international sporting events. At the same time, undertook the responsibility to inspire the Greek society and the state to respect the diversity of people with intellectual disability, special needs and their belief that they are useful and equal members of this society. The Special Olympics Hellas under the high patronage of HE of President of the Greek Republic and under the auspices of the House of Greeks. Is an associate member of the Greek Olympic Committee and officially recognized by the Deputy Ministry of Culture (General Secretariat Sport), as Sporty Athletic Association.

The activities of Special Olympics Hellas relies on volunteers.
The costs of organizing and participation of athletes in competitions covered by sponsoring public and private entities, while a considerable amount covered by the United States.

The Special Olympics Hellas provide participation opportunities for people
with intellectual disabilities in twenty-four (24) Olympic-type sports:
Track and Field, Swimming, Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics, Basketball,  Tennis, Football, Volleyball, Horse Riding, Table Tennis, Bowling, Canoeing, Cycling, Weightlifting, Golf, Judo, Handball, Sailing and four winter sports: Alpine Skiing, Roads Strength, skating and race with Chionovatides. From Septemvriomechri June each year the Special Olympics Hellas, in addition to programs training, organizing local, regional and Pan-Hellenic Games.

The Greeks Special Olympics athletes who have participated in competitions, both in our country and abroad, amounting to about 12,000, involved
consistently in training, working hard throughout the year and demonstrate daily in Greek society and throughout the world that rightly deserve the same opportunities as other Greeks, at all levels social life.

The group of volunteers attended Chatzikiriakeio speech Dntrias Volunteer Program of Special Olympics and Marie Fagogeni informed about the history, progress and activities of the organization. Listened to some of the many touching stories, where athletes just before finish first stop and wait for their friends who come little further back, to finish together.

People of Chatzikiriakeio, deeply sensitive and highly experience, in terms of volunteering, they decided to actively support the world struggles SPECIAL OLYMPICS Athens 2011.

Volunteer Program Special Olympics World Games ATHENS 2011

On June 25 and July 4, 2011 in Athens 7500 Special Olympics athletes from 185 countries, of all skill levels will participate in 22 different Olympic-type sports:
Swimming, Athletics, Badminton, Sand Volleyball, Basketball, Boccia, Bowling, Cycling, Horse Riding, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, judo, canoeing, weightlifting on a bench, skating on the floor, Sailing, Softmpol, Table Tennis, Handball, Tennis , volleyball.

From 20 to 24 June 2011, the Russian Mission of Special Olympics athletes will be staying in Alexandroupolis for athletes to experience the Greek culture and adapt to a new environment, while our fellow citizens will learn more about people with intellectual disabilities their skills and opportunities to join in the daily activities of local society.

Why should I join the Volunteer Program of the Special Olympics World Games ATHENS 2011?

Joining the Volunteer Program of the Special Olympics World Games ATHENS 2011 will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of this special sporting event.

What are the requirements to become a volunteer?

Have reached the age of 18 and you fill in the Application Form Volunteer Program.
To attend information sessions that will organize after accepting the position and the training will receive from Athens 2011 to offer their time and enthusiasm to the success of your event.

During the program, international shipments will be staying for 4 days before the Games, namely from 20 to 24 June 2011 in several cities, including Alexandroupolis will host the Russian Mission athletes Special Olympics, for athletes experience the Greek culture and adapt to a new environment, while the Greek people will learn more about people with intellectual disabilities, their abilities and opportunities to join in the daily activities of local society.
